My Projects
A collection of personal projects I've done over the years.
Music Composition: Ein Liebestanz Finale
This is my first (and only) attempt at composing a classical piece. The idea began when I was randomly improvising on the piano, and played something that I thought sounded pretty good. I thought that maybe I could try my hand at composing a piece from scratch (so no AI). It took me about a month to compose the piece, individually adding each note using MuseScore.
The title Ein Liebestanz Finale translates to "A Love Dance Finale", as the piece tells a story of two lovers (the piano and the violin) that go on a passage of intense conflicts and passionate resolutions, before concluding in a destructive breakup.
My main inspiration when composing the piece was Rachmaninoff, with powerful chords and arpeggiated left-hand swells.
My personal favourite sections are:
1:49-2:10, where the piece transitions from an intense, stochastic minor to a joyous, swellful major
6:00-6:20, which is a refined version of the initial improvisation I played that inspired the whole piece
6:20-6:50, my favourite melodic section, where both the piano and violin take turns in playing the melody
Note that the audio recording was auto-generated by Musescore, so some sections may sound very digital.
Omakase at home
In the 2025 summer break, I decided to try my hand at becoming an Omakase chef. Initially, it was an excuse to buy an expensive Gyutou (type of japanese knife) and eat sushi, but it turned into an entire passion project.
Preparing for the Omakase was an entire week long endeavour. I researched common types of dishes that were served in Omakase, I watched Youtube POV videos of Omakase experiences, and experimented in developing my own original dishes (which resulting in me going to Japan Centre 3 days in a row). I even designed and printed out my own menu
I also had to plan out the whole day leading up to the dinner, deciding at what times I would preparing certain things like the Nikiri (sweet soy) sauce and Tamagoyaki. Especially important was determining the appropriate time to cook the rice (the most important component) as I would also need to let it cool down, but not to the point where it was dried out.
In the end, I managed to prepare a 17 course dinner for my family and friends, and it was so good that I had to do it a second time, with new and innovative dishes.
